In September 2025, Wu Chuanyan, Chairman of the DigiLight Group, and Eng Ahmed Elsewedy, Chairman and CEO of Egypt’s leading comprehensive industrial enterprise, Elsewedy Electric, signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Cairo, Egypt. From December 1st to 4th, upon the invitation of Chairman Wu Chuanyan, Eng Ahmed Elsewedy, Chairman and CEO of Elsewedy Electric, along with Senior Vice President Eng Wael Hamdy, Chief Operating Officer Ahmed Negm, and China CEO Sherif Elaish, conducted a four-day inspection and exchange visit in Wenzhou, Beijing, and Xiong’an New Area, China. During the visit, the delegation engaged in inspections and cooperation discussions with several Chinese enterprises, including Chint Group, Tsingshan Holding Group, PowerChina, Xiong’an Group, China Recycling Resources Group, China Building Material Market Association, and Easyhome Group. The bilateral industrial cooperation between Elsewedy and China, encompassing product and technology collaboration, project partnerships, and supply chain cooperation, has yielded fruitful results.
Government Paves the Way, Jointly Charting a Blueprint for Cooperation
On the afternoon of December 3rd, Wang Zhenyong, Vice Mayor of Wenzhou, presided over the “China-Egypt Enterprise Two-Way Cooperation Exchange Symposium”. Attendees included heads from various departments such as the Municipal Government Office, Longwan District Government, Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Economy and Information Technology Bureau, Commerce Bureau, Foreign Affairs Office, Investment Promotion Bureau, State-owned Assets Investment Company, and State Finance Company. Representatives from leading Wenzhou enterprises and institutions including Chint Group, Ruili Group, Wheat Energy, REPT BATTERO, Taichang Tower, New Sea Valve, Jienuo Electric, Wenzhou Chengke Group, and Wenzhou Prefabricated Building Industry Development Research Center also participated.
Vice Mayor Wang Zhenyong introduced the overview of Wenzhou’s economic development, highlighting the remarkable achievements of the “Three Wenzhous” (Local Wenzhou, China’s Wenzhou, Global Wenzhou) in industrial manufacturing, digital economy, business environment, and international cooperation. He stated that Wenzhou would fully support Elsewedy Group’s investment and development in the city, establishing a dedicated task force to provide comprehensive policy support for two-way industrial cooperation.
Chairman Ahmed Elsewedy reviewed the longstanding friendship between Egypt and China, elaborated on Egypt’s stable social environment, immense economic potential, and tax advantages in global trade. He detailed the global accomplishments of Elsewedy Group over its 87-year history in fields such as wires and cables, power and energy, and digital infrastructure. He solemnly announced that, for the next decade, cooperation with China will be placed at the core of the group’s global development strategy, with full efforts to promote the implementation of multiple cooperative projects with Wenzhou enterprises.
Following the symposium, Zhang Wenjie, Deputy Secretary of the Wenzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Wenzhou, along with Vice Mayor Chen Kuan and other leaders, met with the Elsewedy delegation. Both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on China-Egypt two-way industrial cooperation. Mayor Zhang introduced Wenzhou’s cluster of world-class green energy industries including nuclear power, wind power, photovoltaic power generation, hydropower, pumped storage, battery energy storage, and hydrogen energy. He also highlighted Wenzhou’s five pillar industries (footwear, garments, electrical appliances, automotive parts, pumps & valves) and five strategic emerging industries (digital economy, intelligent equipment, life & health, new energy, new materials), noting that Wenzhou’s GDP exceeded 1 trillion RMB in 2025. He welcomed Elsewedy Group, a leading African power and energy enterprise, to engage in two-way industrial cooperation and collaborate with world-renowned Wenzhou companies like Chint Group, Tsingshan Holding Group, and REPT BATTERO. The Wenzhou Municipal Government supports and encourages local enterprises in internationalization, industrial global expansion, and global market layout, aiming to innovate new models for Belt and Road industrial cooperation.
During their stay in Wenzhou, the delegation also made a special inspection visit to the Wenzhou Bay New Area. Li Dan, Acting District Head of Longwan District, and Zhao Hao, Deputy Director of the Wenzhou Bay New Area Management Committee, held talks with the guests. They detailed the new area’s new energy industry plans and welcomed Elsewedy Group to invest and establish a high-tech industrial park in the area, jointly building a new energy industry base targeting emerging markets such as the Middle East and Africa.
